My Story

Leaford Calder is a Jamaican-born soccer player with extensive experience at various levels of the game. His journey in organized soccer began at St. Mary’s High School in Jamaica, where he first honed his skills and developed a deep passion for the sport. Although he did not have the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level, his love for the game remained unwavering. During his 20-year service in the U.S. Army, Leaford played for the Armed Forces team, representing various military installations and continuing to refine his abilities on the field. Following his military career, he competed in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) in North Texas as a member of El Tapatío Soccer Club. His dedication to the sport eventually led him to transition into officiating, allowing him to stay closely connected to the game.

Leaford is now an established regional referee in North Texas and holds a National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) badge, certifying him as an NCAA referee. His extensive playing background, combined with his expertise as a referee, underscores his commitment to the continued growth and integrity of the sport.
